In today’s podcast, Anthony Cekay sits down with Aaron Mohr founder and Gus Rodriguez promoter to discuss the upcoming StereoTerra music festival to be held in Michigan. The festival features many great acts, including former podcasts guests: Michele Riganese, Alicia Lemke, Brian Meece and Silbin Sandovar and Mieka Pauley.

StereoTerra is a musical utopia offering a manicured mini vacation for all who seek it. Aside from four days of non-stop music, festival goers will be treated to a landscape unlike any other. The campsites are all nestled and threaded in and out of the beautiful Michigan forest with fire-pits never out of reach. Podcast: Michael Daves

In today’s podcast, Anthony Cekay sits down with guitarist Michael Daves. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Michael grew up surrounded by bluegrass music. After studying jazz in college, he found his way back to bluegrass. Today Michael plays a unique guitar style that is a fusion of the two styles. Michael performs at 10:00 PM each Tuesday at Rockwood Music Hall and can also be found performing regularly in collaboration with Chris Thile.

Podcast: Zhao Talimu, Tsung Yeh and Victoria Bond

In today’s podcast Anthony Cekay sits down with Zhao Talimu, Tsung Yeh and Victoria Bond to discuss today’s upcoming concert at Alice Tully Hall. The concert features both traditional Chinese music and instruments and western music and instruments. Zhao Talimu, the leader of the delegation from China, is President of China Conservatory. With a Doctorate in Literature, he is a professor of Musicology, Director of the Committee of the Theory of Chinese Musicians’ Association, and Vice-president of the Society for Chinese Ethnical Musicology. Shanghai-born conductor Tsung Yeh has the distinction of being the first conductor ever to hold music directorships of both a western symphony orchestra and a major Chinese instrument symphony orchestra. He presently serves as Music Director of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, and Music Director of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra in his 22nd season. Victoria Bond is a well-reknown American composer and her compositions have been praised by the New York Times as “Powerful, stylistically varied and technically demanding,” and her conducting has been called “impassioned” by the Wall Street Journal and “full of energy and fervor” by the New York Times. They discuss how this concert seeks to bridge the gap between Chinese and Western music and more. You can listen here:
